Telugu Samskritika Niketanam

Telugu Saamskritika Niketanam's new building

Telugu People have a glorious past with their mellifluous language full of rhym and rhythm; world class literature, exquisite fine arts, age-old folkarts and enthralling music that gave the scintillating Karnatic school to south India. Its craftsmen have produced most enticing works of art and artifacts. Kondapalli toys, the Gadwal, Venkatagiri and Pochampalli handlooms and the Lepakshi handicrafts are some examples.

Since the Sathavahana rule, the Telugu people carved a niche for themselves in the larger national and even international arena.

However, it was not thought of building any lasting symbol of their history, culture and heritage. It was given to the World Telugu Federation to ponder over this lapse and it has taken the task on itself.

As result of its two-year untiring efforts, it could happily persuade Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr.Y.Rajasekara Reddy to collaborate in this Fifty –million-rupee Heritage Project, through the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA). The Government has sanctioned a five-acre plot of land atop the Kailasagiri Hill, a most picturesque spot in the vicinity of Visakhapatnam, with its sylvanic and oceanic surroundings that attract tourists from all over. The World Telugu Federation (WTF), major partner in the joint project has signed a MOU with the Visakhapatbam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) on June 22, 2005 Visakhapatnam, While president Smt.V.L.Indira Dutt signed the papers on behalf of the World Telugu Federation (WTF), in the presence of WTF Secretary General, B.S.R.Krishna, regional chairman Padmasri Dr.Y.Lakshmi Prasad and vice-chairman Vasireddi Thapovardhan, VUDA Vice – chairman Sri.G.Venkataram Reddy I.A.S. signed it on behalf of the government body, in the presence of VUDA chairman Sri P.S.N.Raju (Ravi). Dr.M.V.V.S.Murthi, former member of parliament and WTF vice-president has been  of great help throughout.

The Heritage Museum will have not less than thirty episodes depicting the colourful history, culture, literature, folk arts, fine arts, as well as its language, literature and music.

The Museum would display the history of the Telugu people from the days of Sathavahanas to the modern era. An Ampthitheatre is also being planned to conduct regular cultural shows to promote Telugu artforms. The history of the Telugu people will be depicted in pictorial and other forms. Light and sound shows on the history, both in Telugu and English to attract Telugu and Non-Telugu visitors will be provided. The museum would be unique in several ways. It would help visitors to know and understand various facets of Telugu culture. The promoters intend to complete the project within a year.

It is proposed to invite sponsors for each episode and the sponsor’s name will be permanently inscribed on that part of episode. Each episode is estimated to cost about a million rupees. The World Telugu Federation cordially invites those who have the means and love their heritage to become partners in this unique and prestigious project.
